“Gemini”

Inspired by contemporary portrait photographers like John Coplans, I aimed to express the intangible relationship between fraternal twins, Mara and Brynna, through physical and bodily contact. I wanted to explore the twins’ complex relationship in ways that cannot be expressed with words, only through the body, as they have been connected since their time in utero. I find that these conceptual portraits highlight the intriguing and almost supernatural connection between the sisters, as most of the photos capture the moments between my suggested poses. Whether it was lying next to each other mimicking their sonograms, or taking a moment to chat, they were always in contact, touching hands, feet, shoulders, even eyelashes. These are the exact moments I was looking to capture, and through their bond, this series was compiled.
